Afternoon Tea Party in a Bristol Boathouse 15.9.12

The Benjamin Perry Boathouse is located on Phoenix Wharf on the opposite side of the harbour to Riverstation. Walk or drive on the cobblestones past The Ostrich Inn and you will see it at the end of the wharf.

On Saturday 15th September we are hosting an afternoon tea party on the top floor overlooking the harbour. There will be fresh and dainty sandwiches, scones with lashings of jam and cream, cake and gallons of tea. We will be cranking up the gramophone with some vintage tunes.

We will be holding a raffle to raise funds for our chosen charity The Carers Trust and you may win a couple of tickets for The Cat`s Meow. You can buy tickets on line at http://www.tickettailor.com/checkout/view-event/id/5463/chk/8874

The Carny Villains at The Cat`s Meow

The Carny Villains are a 6 piece circus show band playing stomping swing and ska all rolled out live and kicking with the riotous energy of punk rock. Formed to be the house band with The Invisible Circus they have gone on to storm stages across Europe from festivals such as Fusion and Glastonbury to their namesake Carny Ville in Bristol. They can tear it up with a raucous live gig, create music for theatre and circus or perform as live musical installations under just about any disguise you care to think of.

The Bees Knees

The Bees Knees - London's Finest Flappers

We saw The Bees Knees perform at Molly's bar at Womad this year and we are thrilled to say they have joined the line-up at The Cat's Meow.
The Bees Knees kick the 1920's into the thoroughly modern day with high-energy Charleston dance, full of humour, style and wit.

Not only do they perform but they also teach and DJ too.

They might  teach us a few steps at The Black Cat Cafe Tea dance.

Featuring performers from The Invisible Circus

We are so pleased to say that some of the performers from The Invisible Circus will feature on the line-up at The Cat's Meow Emporium and Kabaret. Our event is inclusive and this fits with the ethos of The Invisible Circus and their stance on community involvement.

The Invisible Circus produce unique circus theatre experiences in a wide variety of unusual locations, from circus big tops and traditional theatres to site specific and promenade performances in disused industrial and historical buildings.

Based in the UK since 2002 the company draws much from its decade of travelling as a street performance troupe in the 90`s exploring Europe's rich performance culture and traditions, working in arts and street festivals, carnivals and creation spaces.

This community emphasis has continued as the company has developed attracting more and more creative energy as it evolves, drawing a diverse range of visual artists, performers, actors, directors, dancers, film makers, choreographers, musicians and technicians to its productions.

We are not going to tell you exactly what they will be doing - you'll just have to come along and see for yourselves.

Chocolate Delores

THE AMAZING CHOCOLATE DELORES

Lizzie Melling aka Chocolate Delores makes the most luscious chocolate cakes; they melt in your mouth and there is often a little after kick of something alcoholic! So that is the taste............but she has turned cake making in to an art form, amazing structures made with pure organic chocolate and beautifully decorated.

Lizzie began her craft at the tender age of 10 learning from her mum in the family home. She has worked as the chief designer and chocolatier at one of Britains leading Organic Chocolate Cake companies but now she has her own company Chocolate Delores the words evoke a pavlovian response.........These are designer cakes, chic, unique . and visually stunning.

Lizzie will be selling wonderful, chocolatey things at The Cat`s Meow perfect for Christmas presents, and you might just see one of her cakes at The Black Cat Cafe.

The Wilde Bunch

The Wilde Bunch flowers are indulgent but affordable, passionate but practical, unique but accessible and oh so wild, sweet scented and
beautiful. Claire trained with and worked for the Royal Horticultural Society. She is adamant you must learn the rules before you can break them and has also trained with international florists in Holland and the UK.
Just as there is no regimented order in nature there is a refreshing wildness to The Wilde Bunch style. We have asked Claire to create a floral display for The Cat`s Meow at The Passenger Shed at Brunel`s Old Station and we can`t wait to see what she will do but she says there is a clue in the name of our chosen venue. Beyond our wildest
dreams?
